This Portal is used to apply for:

  • Starting school for the first time in September 2019 (Joining a Reception class)
  • Transferring to a middle school in September 2019 (Moving from Year 4 to Year 5)
  • Transferring to a secondary school in September 2019 (Moving from Year 6 to Year 7)
  • Transferring to a high school in September 2019 (Moving from Year 8 to Year 9)

Closing Dates

  • Starting school for the first time 12 noon - 15 January 2019
  • Transferring school 12 noon - 31 October 2018

National Offer Day

(You will not hear the result of an on time application until these dates)

  • Starting school for the first time 16 April 2019
  • Transferring school 1 March 2019

Before you start

  • Make sure you have read the admissions policy of the schools you are applying for. The admissions policy can be found on the individual schools websites.
  • Make sure you have read how we process your application form. This information can be found on the Newcastle City Council website here

Where should you apply?

You must apply to the local authority where your child lives (the council where you pay your council tax). If you are unsure about which local authority you live in please visit the website

If you wish to apply for schools outside of the Newcastle Local Authority area but you are a resident of Newcastle you can use this Portal to make the application.

We will only process applications for children living in Newcastle, we will not process any application made by residents of other Local Authorities.
